Every child is a story waiting to be told, each with their own unique abilities and untapped potential.
When Jacob M. first joined The Calais School, the idea of living independently or working in a fast-paced environment seemed far away. But Jacob had determination—and with the support of The Calais Foundation and The Calais School’s 12 Plus and Work-Based Learning programs, he began to believe in himself.
Through a partnership with Johnny’s Pizzeria in Whippany, Jacob got his first taste of real-world success. He learned how to work as part of a team, stay calm under pressure, and take pride in a job well done. Jacob discovered that hard work and self-belief could take him anywhere. And they have.
Today, Jacob’s story continues to inspire. Jacob has embarked on an incredible new chapter. He’s living independently in Exton, Pennsylvania and pursuing his dream at the Universal Technical Institute, where he’s completing a 51-week automotive training program. He’s also working as an Express Technician at Performance Toyota, performing oil and tire changes and more—all while studying full-time to earn his certificate in automotive repair and maintenance.
Jacob is thriving. He’s building a career, a life of his own, and a bright future ahead. And it all began with the compassion, resources, and opportunities made possible by generous supporters like you.
When you give to The Calais Foundation, you’re investing in potential and possibility. You’re helping students with special needs gain the confidence, skills, and independence they need to build their own success stories.
Jacob found his road to independence. With your help, countless others can too.
